Extreme E ist eine neue Rennserie für vollelektrische SUVs. Sie wird ihre Rennen in den extremsten Regionen der Erde auf Offroad-Strecken austragen und im März 2021 in ihre erste Saison starten. Das Ziel von Extreme E ist es, mithilfe von packenden Rennen vor beeindruckenden Kulissen die bereits heute sichtbaren Folgen des Klimawandels an konkreten Beispielen zu veranschaulichen. Die Grundsäulen der Extreme E: Elektrifizierung, Umwelt und Gleichstellung. Geschäftsführer der Extreme E ist der Formel-E-Gründer Alejandro Agag, der sich bei seinem neuen Projekt vieler bewährter Mechanismen der Monoposto-Kategorie bedient.

Das Auto
Der Einheitsbolide für die Extreme E 2021 heißt „Odyssey 21“ und verfügt über einen batterieelektrischen Antrieb mit 400 kW (550 PS). Verbunden mit einem Drehmoment von 920 Newtonmetern beschleunt das SUV in 4,5 Sekunden von 0 auf 100 km/h. Der Odyssey 21 erreicht eine Höchstgeschwindigkeit von 200 km/h und kann Steigungen von bis zu 130 Prozent erklimmen. Technisch dürfen die Teams nichts an den Fahrzeugen ändern. Lediglich Design und Karosserie sind individualisierbar.
Der Modus
Two days of competition – Saturday and Sunday.
Each team takes part in two time trials on Saturday, in Qualifying Round 1 and Qualifying Round 2.
The Shoot Out, the Crazy Race, the Semi Final and the Final on Sunday.
Each race/time trial is two laps – one lap driven by the female and one lap driven by the male.

X Prix Qualifying consists of two rounds of time trials, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The team starting order is decided by a lottery draw. All time trials feature two laps with the incorporated driver ‘Switch’ feature.
Saturday qualifying points (to calculate Sunday starting positions):
1st: 12 points
2nd: 11 points
3rd: 10 point
4th: 9 points
5th: 8 points
6th: 7 points
7th: 6 points
8th: 5 points
9th: 4 points
The top three point scorers after Saturday’s time trials qualify for the Semi-Final. The fourth, fifth and sixth place qualifiers will progress to the Crazy Race while the bottom three teams will compete in the Shoot Out.
SUNDAY RACE FORMAT
Four races held on Sunday: The Shoot Out, the Crazy Race, the Semi Final and the Final.Three cars will battle it out in each race. First and second place teams from the Semi-Final and the winner of the Crazy Race will progress to the Final. Starting position for Final will be decided by fans through the GridPlay voting system.
